Using sample student responses to unseen texts, we will discuss text selection and setting questions, short answer structure and tips for succinct analytical expression.
Presented by Claire Burton
How to do a Close Reading in Literature: Cunning strategies for Close Readings! Not quite, but there are ways and means of providing your students with steps to unlock meaning in unseen texts. In this session, we will look at the ways you can teach your Literature students to understand what is expected of them in this section of the examination, and how they can respond to the texts presented to them. There will also be a short Q&A, so come prepared with your burning questions about Close Readings.
Presented by Susan Lazenby
UWA Chair of Australian Literature and lecturer in English and Literary studies Tony HughesD’Aeth will also give a brief history of Close Reading practices in Literature.
