ETAWA is the only association in WA that represents the needs and interests of WA Secondary English teachers

Membership of the English Teachers Association of WA is open to all members of the public; however, our target audience is Secondary English teachers.

We offer full individual membership, group membership for school faculties, and student/unwaged membership for those currently not in regular employment.

Membership of the ETAWA provides associate membership to our national association, the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE). Members of ETAWA will receive copies of the AATE journal English in Australia as well as discounted rates to AATE conferences.

Membership

Members receive discounts to professional learning events and the annual conference, as well as copies of our quarterly newsletter ETANotes, our professional journal Interpretations and other regular updates and information through our group email list. Aside from providing resources and professional development opportunities for teachers, the ETAWA provides advocacy for members and is represented on many educational bodies and curriculum groups. All secondary English teachers in Western Australia should be members of the ETAWA for the association to continue to provide strong advocacy for members.

The English Teachers Association of WA acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. Country has, for thousands of years, been a place of learning. We at the English Teachers Association of WA are proud to share in this long tradition.
