2020 State Conference
Sat, 9 May 2020
Dear Members and Conference Participants,
As ETAWA President, and on behalf of the Council and Conference Committee, I regret to announce the decision to postpone the ETAWA 2020 State Conference, ‘Hearing Voices’, which was due to take place on May 9th at the University of Western Australia.
With the developing situation surrounding COVID-19, and the uncertainty of the coming weeks, we feel that postponing the event is the best decision for the health and well-being of our members.
We know that this decision is disappointing, and we thank you for your support and understanding. We would like to pay tribute to all the hard work of the Conference Committee, Bree Hanson and Claire Burton, as well as our Professional Development Officer, Josefine Wang, and Secretariat, Dave Adams. We know their innovative ideas and diligent efforts will be enjoyed by us all once these circumstances have passed.
The conference will now be in Term 4 on a date to be confirmed.
Where possible the Conference Program will remain as planned, including our keynote presenters Paul Kelly, Shaun Nannup and Holden Sheppard, as well as accepted workshop presentations and research papers. The venue will remain the University of Western Australia and we will continue to update you with any new details.
Registrations currently received will remain valid for the new date. If you require a refund please contact Dave Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org
Scholarship applications are still encouraged and will be offered as previously advertised.
In the meantime, ETAWA will be offering online Professional Development to support teachers in the usual challenges of teaching English, as well as these new and altered circumstances. Details of online events will be available soon.
We look forward to seeing you in Term 4 for ‘Hearing Voices’ and online in the interim. Until then we send wishes of good health and collegial support.
