Summer School for English teachers(cont.)

You, or other teachers you can encourage in your networks may be interested in applying to attend. Participants will be accomplished practitioners who have the support of their school.

The English course will be held at Deakin University in Melbourne.

You need to apply on line at DEST summer schools
Applications close on Wed 17 October 2007 at 5 pm (AEST)

AATE is working with partners, Deakin and Murdoch Universities to develop the program for the 10 days of the Summer School. A number of very interesting modules are so far proposed:

  • Leading change

  • Commonality and assessment at Year 12

  • Cultural diversity and children’s literature

  • Multiliteracies, multimodality and design in the English classroom

  • Literature and the canon in twenty-first century curriculum

We are also keen to provide plenty of time for participants to reflect and share their own accomplished practice.

If you are considering applying for a place then make sure you check out STELLA website. The Standards for Teachers of English Language and LIteracy in Australia will provide you with some VERY useful foci to ensure your application has 'the edge'. You could use the key words and the key word questions to frame your application.

Good luck with your applications. It would be great if there was a strong Western Australian contingent at the Summer School.

cheers
