  • An opportunity to be involved in policy and decision-making groups.
  • Information and activities that meet the professional development needs of English teachers.
  • The opportunity to express your views on educational changes and to support the only professional association that looks after the interests of English teachers.

Why you should belong?

For the Association to lobby on behalf of all English teachers, it is vital that there is a strong membership.

It is important that teachers see the ETA as much more than a provider of resources and quality Professional Development, important as those things are. The ETA is continually working towards improving the status of English teachers and the teaching of English in WA.

The greater the level of support from English teachers, the more effective the ETA can be in advancing the professional concerns and status of English teachers.

    You receive
  • Membership in the only professional association working for your subject area.
  • English in Australia plus AATE Newsletters on items of concern to English teachers.
  • Interpretations, a nationally recognised professionally refereed journal produced in WA.
  • ETAWA newsletters with useful information and details of coming events of interest to you.
  • Access to ETA state conferences, seminars, and other professional development.

Group Membership

Schools and English departments have the option of taking out a group membership of ETA.

For the equivalent of five or more ordinary memberships paid at a discounted rate the department receives as many copies of all ETA material and as many places at seminars and conferences as are covered by the group membership.

Group memberships paid by schools have refundable GST so they are financially very attractive.

To cover, for example, seven people costs $425, a total saving of $114 (incl. GST saved). The department receives 7 copies of all publications and up to seven members of staff can attend ETA PD events - for the normal registration.
