Join with teachers from other schools who plan to use the ETA's first semester Year 12 English examination to discuss the paper and participate in a consensus marking session of a small number of sample scripts. Led by Rod Quin, an experienced Chief Marker, the seminar will help teachers set their expectations of student responses and provide guidance in appropriately ranking scripts.
The seminar is free to teachers in schools who have bought the ETA paper. Afternoon tea will be provided. Please email etawa@etawa.org.au to register.

You are invited to the safe harbour of the annual State conference, appropriately convened at Notre Dame University in Port Fremantle, where we will contemplate the seascape and horizons of our subject.
Professor Bill Louden, Chair of the Curriculum Council will give the opening address on Friday evening. AATE president Mark Howie will present the keynote address on Saturday morning. Comic, Claire Hooper will close proceedings.

In January 2008, over 100 of Australia's best English teachers will be given an opportunity to attend a high quality 10 day residential professional development program as part of the Australian Summer School for Teachers Program. The English program is presented by Deakin University, Murdoch University and the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE).
All course travel and accommodation expenses will be met by the Australian government and a $5000 taxable bonus will be paid to those who successfully complete the summer school course.

Applications are now open for five full scholarships and five partial scholarships for UWA. These scholarships are for practising teachers to complete the Graduate Diploma in Educational Assessment, Measurement and Evaluation. Applications close on the 16 February 2007.
